Year: 2009-2010

Client: Aqaba Community and Economic Development Program (ACED) implemented by AECOM

ECO Consult was contracted by the USAID-funded five-year program Aqaba Community and Economic Development Program (ACED) to review ASEZA’S scholarship program within Aqaba’s labor force needs for the coming decade, and identify how the scholarship program could address these needs by recommending improvements.

We completed an analysis of existing studies and documentations on workforce skills gap, education and training needs for major sectors in the Zone taking into consideration gender issues. We also completed an analysis and estimation of the market demand and supply for skilled manpower by screening the past, present and future projects within the next five to ten years.

In addition, the study evaluated the output of the education and training providers that included but was not limited to The Aqaba University College, Jordanian University, the Aqaba Vocational Training Center and other universities and training centers.
