Project Description:
The Iraq Horticulture Development Program (IHDP) aims at increasing the horticulture sector's competitiveness and expanding opportunities in the value chain through introducing innovative climate-smart agriculture (CSA) technologies and efficient irrigation, improving postharvest practices and promoting knowledge transfer among counterparts and partner organizations.
Provided Services:
Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and implemented by ECO Consult in cooperation with Delphy, the four-year project focuses on increasing production volumes and quality and introducing improved postharvest management systems. The Project aims to advance the sector through:
- Introducing innovative climate-smart agriculture (CSA) technologies
- Improving postharvest practices
- Enhancing knowledge transfer among counterparts and partner organizations
These efforts will create sustainable job opportunities, increase the capacity of farmers and key-value chain businesses through knowledge sharing and facilitate the entry of the private sector to compete in higher end domestic and international markets.
