Project Description:
ERM, along with ECO Consult and BRL, were commissioned by the World Bank to carry out a full Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) according to the World Bank Environmental and Safeguard Policies for the proposed Red-Dead Water Conveyance System.
Provided Services:
The ESIA involved a comprehensive review and assessment of all potential environmental and social impacts of the RSDSWCS at the regional and project specific level. The ESIA examined the wider knock-on effects of regional changes stimulated by the project such as increased tourism and changing patterns of population and economic activity. An Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP) was prepared as part of the study that set out measures for avoiding and mitigating the impacts that were identified, as well as clarifying provisions for institutional monitoring.
