    Project Description:

Jordan is situated on one of the most vital bird migration paths in the world, through which birds pass during the spring and autumn migratory season between Europe and Africa.  Wind turbines are associated with impacts on birds from risks of strikes and collision on both migratory soaring birds and resident soaring birds in the area.

In line with Good International Industry Practice (GIIP), the Ministry of Environment (MoEnv) and International Financing Institutions (IFIs) require the implementation of an Active Turbine Management Plan (ATMP) that involves the shutdown of turbines that entail a risk situation on bird species.

ECO Consult has been at the forefront of the design and implementation of ATMPs for wind farm developments in Jordan. This is undertaken by a fully qualified offsite and onsite team that is composed of over 15 individuals.

    Provided Services:

ECO Consult provided key E&S services for the project to include:

    • Observer-Led Shutdown on Demand for Avi-fauna & Active Turbine Management Plan (ATMP)
    • Carcass search and documentation
    • Searcher Efficiency & Scavenger Removal Trials
    • Bat survey & monitoring
